Kathy McDonald is the leading consultant and political strategist in SW Washington.  She began her career 15 years ago with hands-on experience as a grassroots activist focusing on educational issues.  Her commitment to building strong diverse coalitions within the community led her to positions of increasing responsibility in campaign after campaign, resulting significant wins in both issue-based and candidate campaigns.

Kathy’s forte is in relationship-building and communication.  She has run back-to-back issue-based campaigns that have garnered 63% and 68% of the vote, on ballot measures that had lost in previous election cycles.  Kathy believes that involvement of the community and honest communication with the voters are the keys to running to a successful campaign.

In 2005, Kathy formed KMac & Associates, LLC, a consulting company that focuses on quality of life and family-based issues.  She is an integral part of a small team focused on stopping the Cowlitz-Mohegan tribal casino that is proposed in SW Washington.  Recent projects include major successes such as the Fort Vancouver Regional Library bond campaign, which had failed twice before Kathy came on board; the successful C-TRAN campaign, for which Kathy was recruited after the first attempt failed; she was state-wide Coalition Coordinator for the US Senate race, and ran the “Get Out the Vote” campaign in SW Washington in 2005, among other projects.

Prior to starting her own company, Kathy was the SW Washington Development Coordinator for Evergreen Freedom Foundation (EFF).  EFF is a free market think tank that has won national acclaim for their work on budget, labor union and education reform.  Before that, she worked for a US Congresswoman as a legislative aide.

Kathy and her husband Mike live in Vancouver, WA.  They have four children.  Kathy has a BA in Practical Theology, and has held almost every volunteer job imaginable in PTAs and kid-based organizations over the last 21 years.  Her personal mission is to develop and maintain family-friendly livable communities that we will be proud to pass on to our children’s children.
